Singhara Halwa

Savour the warmth of Singhara Halwa, a rich, golden treat made with roasted water chestnut flour, aromatic cardamom, and ghee. This festive delight is perfectly sweetened, garnished with slivered almonds, and melts in your mouth with every bite. A comforting dessert that’s as nutritious as it is delicious!

INGREDIENTS -


  • 1 cup Singhara atta (water chestnut flour)

  • 1/4 cup ghee (clarified butter)

  • 1/2 cup sugar (adjust to taste)

  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder

  • 2 tbsp slivered almonds (for garnish)

  • 2 cups boiling water

METHOD -


  1. Heat ghee in a pan on medium heat. Once it’s hot, add the Singhara atta and roast it. Keep stirring continuously for 5-7 minutes until it turns golden brown and aromatic.

  2. Add boiling water to the roasted atta. Be cautious as the mixture may splutter. Stir continuously to avoid lumps.

  3. Once the water is absorbed, add sugar and cardamom powder. Stir well until the sugar dissolves and the mixture thickens. Cook for another 5-7 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally.

  4. When the halwa starts leaving the sides of the pan, remove it from heat.

  5. Garnish with slivered almonds and serve hot.
