What can I cook in the Borosil Pro Plus 60L OTG?
You can bake cakes, cookies, bread, pizza, and pastries. You can roast a whole chicken, leg of lamb, or vegetables. You can grill paneer tikka, kebabs, fish, and sandwich toast. The rotisserie drum works for tumble-roasting cashews, peanuts, and popcorn. At lower temperatures (70 to 100°C), you can proof dough, dehydrate fruit slices, or keep cooked food warm. With the convection mode on, roasting and baking are more even because hot air circulates inside the chamber.
How is an OTG different from a microwave oven?
An OTG uses heating elements (metal coils at the top and bottom) to cook food, similar to a traditional oven. A microwave uses microwave radiation to heat the water molecules inside food. OTGs are better for baking, roasting, grilling, and getting a crispy or browned texture on food. Microwaves are better for quick reheating, defrosting frozen food, and cooking food fast. An OTG takes longer to preheat and cook, but gives you results closer to a full-sized oven. You cannot use metal utensils in a microwave, but you can in an OTG.
How long does the Borosil 60L OTG take to preheat?
Preheating time depends on the target temperature. At 180°C (common for cakes and cookies), the OTG typically takes about 10 to 15 minutes to preheat. At 230°C (for pizza or tandoori), it may take around 15 to 20 minutes. The 2200W heating element heats up somewhat faster than OTGs with lower wattage, like 1500W or 2000W models. Always preheat the OTG before putting food inside for more consistent results.
Can I make pizza in this OTG?
Yes. Set the temperature to 220 to 230°C and use both top and bottom heating elements. Place the pizza on the cooking tray or directly on the grill rack. A 12-inch pizza fits inside the 60L chamber. Preheat the OTG for about 15 to 20 minutes before sliding in the pizza. Cooking time for a homemade pizza is usually 10 to 15 minutes depending on the thickness of the crust and toppings.
How many people can a 60L OTG serve?
A 60-litre OTG is suitable for families of 4 to 8 people. You can bake two 8-inch cakes at the same time, roast a whole chicken (up to about 2 kg), make a full 12-inch pizza, or prepare 3 to 4 trays of cookies in one batch. For large gatherings, you can run multiple batches. The 60L size is one of the biggest OTG sizes available for home use in India.
How do I clean the Borosil 60L OTG?
Unplug the OTG and let it cool down completely before cleaning. Pull out the crumb tray from the bottom and empty it. Wipe the interior walls with a damp cloth. For stubborn grease, use a mild dish soap solution on the cloth but do not spray water directly inside. The cooking tray and grill rack can be washed with dish soap and water. The rotisserie parts can be washed the same way. Wipe the outer body with a damp cloth. Do not submerge the OTG in water or put any parts in a dishwasher.
