What is the difference between single-wall and double-wall bottles?
A single-wall bottle like the Laguna has one layer of stainless steel, which makes it lighter (185g for 1L) and more affordable. A double-walled or vacuum-insulated bottle has two steel layers with a vacuum or air gap between them, which keeps drinks hot or cold for hours. The Laguna is best for room-temperature water or drinks you plan to finish within a short time. If you need your drink to stay cold for 6 to 12 hours, a double-walled bottle would be a better fit.
Is the Borosil Laguna bottle BPA-free?
Yes. The Laguna is made from stainless steel with no inner plastic lining, so there is no BPA in contact with your water. The cap may contain plastic components, but Borosil uses food-grade materials for all parts that come in contact with beverages.
Can I use this bottle for hot drinks like tea or coffee?
You can pour hot drinks into the Laguna, but since it is a single wall bottle, the outside of the bottle will get hot to the touch. There is no insulation, so your drink will also cool down to room temperature fairly quickly. For hot beverages you plan to drink over a long period, a double wall insulated bottle would work better.
Is the Laguna bottle dishwasher safe?
Borosil does not list the Laguna as dishwasher safe. The powder-coated matte finish on the outside may degrade over time if exposed to dishwasher detergent and high heat cycles. Hand washing with mild detergent and a soft sponge or bottle brush is the recommended way to clean it.
How should I clean the bottle?
Wash the bottle with warm water and a small amount of mild liquid detergent. Use a soft sponge or a bottle brush. The wide mouth makes it easy to reach inside. Rinse thoroughly and let it air dry with the cap off. Avoid abrasive scrubbers or steel wool as these can damage the matte coating. Wash the bottle before first use.
Does the powder-coated finish peel or chip off?
The matte powder coating is designed to be durable under everyday use. Some wear can happen over time if the bottle is regularly dropped on hard surfaces or scrubbed with rough materials. Using a soft sponge for cleaning and avoiding abrasive pads will help the finish last longer. Borosil offers a 1-year warranty on manufacturing defects, which would cover coating issues that happen under normal use.
