Urad Dal Khichdi

Ingredients

‌1/2cup urad dal

‌1cup white rice

‌1/4cup ghee

‌2-3pc cloves

‌1inch cinnamon stick

‌1pc big elaichi

‌2pc dry red chilli

‌1tsp jeera

‌Hing, a pinch

‌1tsp ginger, chopped

‌1pc onions, chopped

‌1tsp turmeric powder

‌1tsp red chilli powder

‌Water, as required

‌Salt, to taste

‌1tsp garam masala



Method



In a pressure cooker, add ghee and let it heat properly. Once heated, add spices and hing. 

Add onions in the cooker and let them sautee until they're translucent.

Once they turn a little brown, add dal, powdered spices and sautee

Lastly, add the rice and water. Check for seasoning and then let it cook for 2 whistles and then keep it on medium heat.

Fluff the khichdi and then serve hot with Mango chuna, papad, achar and ghee.
