Potatoes sliced into long pieces - 250 grams
Capsicums sliced into Square shapes - 2 Capciums
Onions cut in squared slices - 2 Onions
Finely chopped green chillies - 3 to 4 pieces
Chopped garlic cloves - 4 to 5 cloves
A small piece of ginger - chopped
Corn Flour or Maida - ¾ cup
Sugar - 1 tsp (optional)
Salt - as per taste
Oil - 2 tsp
Soya Sauce
Tomato Sauce
Chilli Sauce
Chinese Sauce - Ajinomoto  

How To Make Chilli Potato At Home?

Prep The Potatoes 

Let us help you get started:

Step 1: Rinse 3 medium-sized potatoes. 
Step 2: Peel and slice the potatoes into equal width and breadth.
Step 3: Add three cups of water in a bowl and add the potatoes in the water for 20 to 30 minutes. 

Prep The Ingredients 

Start combining the ingredients while your potatoes are soaked in water:

Step 1: Chop 1 whole onion (medium sized)! Add a small bell pepper (capsicum), 4 to 5 garlic cloves, 1.5-inch ginger and 2 green chillies. You can also take ⅓ cup of spring onions (optional).   
Step 2: Take a small katori and add 2 tsp of soy sauce and 2 tsp of red chilli paste or sauce. Try the spicy red chilli sauce. 
Step 3: Mix the sauces and keep them aside. 

Cook The Potatoes

Step 1: Place the sliced potatoes in a mixing bowl.
Step 2: Add red chilli powder or 1 tsp red chilli flakes! Use a spoon to mix them. Avoid using your bare hands. 
Step 3: Add 2 tbsp of corn flour and a pinch of salt as per taste. Now mix again.
Step 4: Now, you will be frying the potatoes. You can abide by the traditional frying process or use an air fryer for a healthy take. 

Oil Frying Process

Step 1: Heat oil in a kadai or a frying pan. Keep the flame to medium while adding potatoes. 
Step 2: Use a spatula to stir the potatoes to prevent them from sticking to the bottom.
Step 3: Continue regulating the flame to ensure the potatoes are completely fried. 
Step 4: Place the potatoes on a paper towel to soak in the extra oil. 

Air Frying Process

Step 1: Spread the seasoned potatoes inside the air fryer basket. 
Step 2: Air fry for 18-20 minutes at 400˚F until the potatoes are golden. 

Prepare The Sauce

It is time you start making the sauce and proceed towards the main cooking part:

Step 1: Take a kadai, and add 2 to 3 tsp of oil. 
Step 2: Add chopped garlic, chillies, ginger and chopped vegetables - onion and capsicum. Fry until brown.   
Step 3: Remember the mixed sauces that you kept aside! Add them to the vegetables, stir well and pour a cup of water. 
Step 4: Put the flame on high, boil the mixture, and add a pinch of Ajinomoto.   
Step 5: Put the fried potato pieces in the sauce and cook until the pieces turn tender.
Garnish with spring onion and serve hot!
